How should I honour You?
Should I raise my hands?
How should I worship You?
Should I lift my voice in Song?
How should I honour You?
Should I get on my knees?
How should I worship You, my God
Make my life
into a sacrifice of praise
Change my heart
Into a reflection of Your grace
How will I honour You?
I will raise my hands?
How will I worship You?
I will lift my voice in Song?
How will I honour You?
I will get on my knees?
How will I worship You, my God
I am here to say that
You are My God.
You are the one who fills
My every breath, my every song
You fill my soul. Let me overflow
You are The One, The Holy One
The Great I Am, The risen Son
Yes, You are the One, The Holy One
The Great I Am, The risen Son

| It occurred to me
that we do an awful lot in our church just because that's
the way we've always done it. I'm not suggesting
that's a bad thing. Tradition definitely has it's
place. I was thinking and I came to the conclusion
that because we are supposed to be in a personal
relationship with Jesus, we should be communicating with Him
regularly. Novel concept, huh? In order to effectively communicate, we
need to listen. I guess I just wrote the song as a
response to that thought. This song very frankly asks
God the question, "how would you like my worship today?"
Its about making an attempt to maturely accept and even
expect change in our worship styles.
Recording this song
was a little bit of a different experience for me. It
is the first track I ever tried to marry electronic, looped
drums with a standard set of drums. It was a challenge
getting the timing right. It was also a challenge
learning to figure out how to control sub bass during the
mastering process. Originally I thought I might have
more backup vocals layered on, but in the end, Shauna sang
that awesome harmony and I decided I would let the song
stand as a duet. I think the extra vocals would have
taken away from the end product. |
