Be with me O’ Father
On this night the Son will rise
I will follow, You where You go
Lord, lead me through the night
For your light brings freedom
I will go
and sing of You.
All will know
how I love You, Lord
My Saviour, my God, my Morning Star.
Your are perfectly beautiful
You’re spirit sets me free
I will worship and honour You
The One who purifies me
For You paid my ransom
I want More
Of You Jesus, My Lord.
Come dwell in my soul
Oh Redeemer, the Lamb who was slain for me.
Jesus I’m Thirsty for more of the
Lord
I am Yours (I am Yours)
Living Water, Holy One
I will follow (I will Follow)
You Lord
Jesus!

| This song was written
a few years ago now. I can't say that there was a life
changing experience that caused me to write it. I had
set out to do some writing and this is what came out.
I like songs that are sung to God as opposed to about God.
It's not that I don't like songs about God, I've written
those as well, but there is something really honest about
songs to God. I think we often sing these songs
without really realizing what we are singing.
This song is sort of a response to my experience of Jesus in
my life. It's a song about committing one's self in
service to Jesus.
Musically, this song
is fairly simple. In my opinion it's not the most
interesting song I've written. I find it very singable
though. The chorus is one that people can really belt
out. I tried to capture that feeling in the recording.
I had the help of two of my favourite female voices, Shauna,
Ginn and Lesley-Anne Horbay. They really help make the
choruses beltable. Thanks guys! I love the bass
work in this song as well. That's Michael Wilke again!
I love the little runs he worked into the choruses.
The other thing about his song was the use of strings.
It was my first try at working a string section into an
otherwise traditional folk sounding song. I enjoyed
the challenge. In the future I will likely try that
kind of thing again and see if I can't take that part of
production to the next level. |
