Jesus Saviour King (x4)

I am here because I believe
Oh that my God will come again

You are the Mighty One.
You died for everyone. (x2)

I am waiting
For the day You come to get me
When you take the world and turn it upside down

I can see
The brooding Holy Spirit
You fill the very air that I breathe

You are here
So I lift my hands
I’ll focus all I am on You

You’re the One
My God and my salvation
The Lord of all creation
Fall on me! Fall on me! Fall on me!

I think this has got to be the funkiest worship song I have ever written!  I love the way this song grooves.  So far it's one of the favourites on the CD.  This is one that seems to stand out to so many.  It's funny because this song has been in the works for years and years.  I had written the guitar riff years ago.  I can't even remember when.  I had the first verse back when I started the song - it's a simple verse so it wasn't much to have.  Just before the recording of the CD I sat down over a couple of days and finished it off.  The song starts off as a song about the return of Jesus.  From there it kind of changes into a basic worship song.  Often when I start writing a song that is more about God, I end up describing something about Him that makes me want to worship.  So often those songs tend to change perspectives throughout the song.   Sometimes it's to God, sometimes it's about God.  I used to worry about how one of these songs read.  I'd worry that someone wouldn't realize that the perspective had changed and get confused.  Now I feel more comfortable with it.

This song is one of the more musically interesting songs on Forward Motion. It's such a fun riff to play.  Throwing in the Didgeridoo was an experiment at first, but ended up really solidifying the sort of gritty acoustic rock feel for me.  And of course Mr. Wilke came through again on this song and created an awesome bass line for it.  I think it's got to be the perfect bass line as it's interesting by itself yet it still lets the acoustic be a feature in the song.  Listen at the end of the clip for some nice bass work.  It was such a fun song to put together.  This one of the few songs on the CD where I sang all the vocals.  There is something about singing harmonies to yourself that just can't be reproduced live.  After all, no one's voice matches my voice better than my own voice, right?  That is definitely one of the advantages of working in a studio rather than recording live.
