This is the first piece of service music I ever wrote.  I have an Anglican upbringing.  As many of you may know, most Anglican church have a Eucharist service every week.  The Sanctus is said every day in this service.  One day I read it and thought that this could so easily be a song.  There have been many other musical settings for the Sanctus, but I just wanted something that was really singable and fresh.  This is what I came up with.  My church now does this every week.

My favourite part of this recording is the vocal work.  I had taken some extra time to make the songs sound a little more finished than it does when played live.  So I put on my best falsetto voice and come up with the vocals at the end and enhance the "ahhs" in the second verse.  I thought that it was important to add something a little different because I've been playing this song every week for a number of years.  I wanted to avoid it being exactly like I've heard it every week.  That being said, I still wanted it to sound like something other church music groups might be able to pick up.  You can get a sample of the new "ahhs" in the clip for this song.  They are one of my favourite parts.
